Meridian, Mississippi

A drive-by shooting took his life

He was involved in a previous shooting. “Guns are not the answer. They are made to protect, not to just go out and shoot somebody,” said a police officer.

Night fell on a quiet street in Meridian, Mississippi. A car drove by, and a cascade of gunshots rang out, igniting the neighborhood with noise, commotion and disturbance.

On June 11, 2018, Jamarcus Lloyd, 18, was shot and killed by a suspect who has been arrested and charged with murder, in the drive-by shooting in Meridian. His mother lived near where he took his final breaths. Forty-seven candles have been lit for him on a memorial website.
