On a day in mid-August, nine people were shot in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

It was the third-highest day for reported shootings that month. The number of victims per day ranged from one to 13. Some of those victims got recognized; others didn’t.

Ace Smith, 18, was found dead near the Frankford Creek in Philadelphia on Aug. 17, 2018. He had gunshot wounds in the forehead and back and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police believe he was shot elsewhere, and his body later was left near the creek.
