According to AreaVibes, the district received an F in crime, and Mix96Buffalo ranked it the third most crime-ridden neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.

On June 17, 2018, 17-year-old Leo Thagard III was shot after a brief argument outside of a house on Lombard Street.
