Tyus Odjarek Burnett

Age 16

Florence, South Carolina

Graduation dream, cut short at 16

In the photo, he is a young boy with innocent brown eyes, with a smile slightly slanted upwards, revealing his bright white teeth.

On the website of Dimery and Rogers Funeral home, his former teacher described him  as “a leader and respectful [young] man.” He was always talking about wanting to graduate, she added.

Sometime after 2 a.m. on May 31, 2018, someone entered the mobile home in Florence, South Carolina, where Tyus Odjarek Burnett, 16, lived. Several shots were fired. He was shot and killed.
