She’Nyah Monaye' O’Flynn

Age 12

Chicago, Illinois

At 12, her personality was powerful

“You could hear her laughter far before you could see her,” her school’s superintendent said.

A cheerleader, she shared her mother’s love for soccer. She was an A student, a social butterfly and a loyal friend. She had her own style: Everything had to match. At 12 years old, her personality was powerful.

She never made it to 13. She’Nyah Monaye' O’Flynn was returning from her cousin’s graduation party at 11:20 p.m. on June 14, 2018, in Chicago when she was shot getting out of the car. Her 1-year-old cousin was in her arms. She’Nyah died at the hospital. The baby survived.
