Ricardo Garcia Perez

Age 2

Clearlake, California

Camisas blancas for the angels above

In one picture, he plays with his baby brother, an outstretched hand and open mouth, as though trying to make him look forward at the camera. In another, he looks straight ahead with a serious expression, nestled closely to his father and sister.

His home in Clearlake, California, was marred by violence. Five months prior, his father was charged with spousal battery and, as a result, was barred from owning a firearm.

Ricardo Garcia Perez, 2, died from a gunshot fired by his father on Aug. 12, 2018. Two of his siblings were also killed. His father died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
