Age 3

Bay City, Michigan

Champion won’t lift yellow sword again

In an online video, she uses her small hand to lift a yellow foam sword to the ceiling. Repeating after her father, who held her in his arms, she chanted with joy, “I’m smart, I’m beautiful, I can do anything I set my mind to do!”

She was often described by her family and their friends as a “champion” and a “beautiful angel.”

Mikayla Alina Walker was 3 when, on Feb. 20, 2018, her mother drove her and her 2-year-old brother, Dariel, to an industrial parking lot in Bay County, Michigan, and shot them both in the head.
