Moises Ramon Montano

Age 2

Ridgeland, South Carolina

He was resting in Mom’s arms

He was a toddler, his entire life waiting ahead of him. A picture depicts his face with a shy smile, surrounded by curly brown hair and heart shapes pasted in the corner.

Most evenings, he lay in bed peacefully at home with his mother. His family has lived in their neighborhood for nearly 20 years. Jasper County Sheriff Chris Malphrus describes them as very quiet, hardworking people who are productive members of society.

Eight shots were fired into his home over a property dispute on Aug. 16, 2018 in Ridgeland, South Carolina. One of them fatally struck Moises Ramon Montano, 2, in the head.
