Oliver Villarreal

Age 1

Laredo, Texas

A family circle broken too soon

The three gripped each other, all too aware of the gap in their circle as their fingers slipped and tears blended together. United in sorrow, they stood together and prayed.

Just a day before, there had been one more, smiling as he wandered with his dad and brother   down the tree-lined pavement to a local park. On their way back, his father stopped to talk to a neighbor, unaware of the dark-colored vehicle that loomed in the distance.

Oliver Villarreal, 1, was shot in the head in a drive-by shooting in Laredo, Texas, on May 31, 2018.
