He was a fourth-grade student at Covington Street Elementary in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He liked school, and he liked to play with his friends.

He was raised by his grandmother, Lorraine Bingham, and cousin Nathishaia Bingham. "I always told him, I'm going to protect him,” Bingham said of her grandson.

        

        At 7:35 p.m. on March 1, 2018, Laurinburg police received a report of an unresponsive juvenile. Emergency medical workers responded. Naijahere Travese Jalynn Bingham, 10, was pronounced dead at his home from a gunshot wound. On April 25 a suspect was charged. He was 13 years old.
