Her life was accidentally taken away
She was staying in a hotel room. Her mother was trying to protect her and her siblings by escaping a domestic violence incident involving a significant other.
Instead, a tragedy occurred.
She likely didn’t know her mother had a valid permit to carry a gun, which her mother accidentally dropped. Police say that she unknowingly “moved into the line of fire.”
She was struck by a bullet after it went through a mattress and into her chest.
Laila Johnson died of an accidental gunshot wound in Wickliffe, Ohio, on April 20, 2018. She was 2 years old.
