Jamar Lee Quinn Jr.

Age 3

River Rouge, Michigan

He died young, innocent, and asleep

He was never really safe. Wayne County, where he lived, was home to the state’s highest homicide rate. For years, people had been leaving his city, River Rouge, Michigan. Recently, gunfire had shattered the front window of his house. Later, it would be “firebombed,” according to the family.

He also lived near a park and liked Captain America. He was 3. His story would become larger in death than in life, but he had a life.

Jamar Lee Quinn Jr. was asleep when he was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting on May 20, 2018. He died the next day.
