Louisiana is known for its vibrant culture and its lush greenery.

But it also suffers from one of the highest rates of gun-related deaths in America, with about 21 gun-related deaths per 100,000 people, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Louisiana also disproportionately records accidental gun deaths compared to most other states.

On Aug. 17, 2018, Ayden Cole Walker, 4, died in Shreveport, Louisiana, in an accidental shooting. No further details had been released at the time of this writing.
