Never made it to Grandma’s house

The curious and happy toddler lived in a makeshift mobile home park with his mother and two sisters.

One day, his mother told him to put on on his shoes because it was time to leave and visit his grandmother. He walked into the other room. Soon, a loud bang and screams echoed through the home.

On Nov. 18, 2018, Anthony Isaiah Mares, 2, died from a bullet wound in his stomach from a handgun that discharged on Beckleycrest Avenue in Dallas, Texas. Police charged his mother’s boyfriend with capital murder as a result of the shooting. He claims that Anthony accidentally shot himself.
