Just days away from her graduation

Caring, funny, outgoing and honest. These were the words loved ones used to describe her. She dreamed of becoming a nurse. She worked at an assisted-living facility, and she was preparing to start studying at South Seattle College. She was only a few days away from graduating from high school. Karyme Barreto-Sabalza, 18, attended Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, Washington. On the night of June 16, 2018, after months of telling friends she feared for her life at the hands of her boyfriend, police say he lured her to a park and shot her in the head at close range.
