Joe Acosta

Age 18

Phoenix, Arizona

Forced to leave his little girl

He cradled a baby and a milk bottle, caring for his daughter and tending to her needs. His selflessness shines through a photograph of him rocking his little girl on his knee. As a new father, he gave love to others and received love in return.

One of his friends, Judy Molina, posted a photograph of him with angel wings on Facebook, writing, “I love you brother.” He was originally from San Luis Rio Colorado, a town in Mexico, but moved to Phoenix, where he studied at Arizona State University.

Joe Acosta, 18, was shot and killed in Phoenix on April 23, 2018.
