William Garrett Sands

Age 17

Terre Haute, Indiana

A Servant Hearts marathoner senselessly taken

He loved to run. He jogged with his mother. He did cross-country and track. He even ran in local marathons.

He was awarded the Servant Hearts Award for helping a disabled neighbor with yard work in the rain. He would not accept any money; he did it out of the goodness of his heart. His teachers at South Vigo High School described him as “one of the most pleasant, outgoing” kids. According to his loved ones, he loved to make people laugh.

William Garrett Sands, 17, was shot and killed at a party in Terre Haute, Indiana on March 28, 2018.
