Tyrese Carter

Age 17

Savannah, Georgia

Last performance on New Year’s Day

Many knew him as Huncho Reese, but he was more than a rap name: He was a son, a friend, a brother.

A senior at New Hampstead High School, he had a great sense of humor. “I’m just going to miss him aggravating me and joking around.”

On New Year’s Day 2019, Tyrese Carter, 17, performed at a teen “bash” at the Crayola Café on Bull Street in Savannah, Georgia. As he left early Wednesday morning, he was shot and killed outside the café. At his vigil, mourners listened to his songs.
