Near and far, his smile inspired

Everyone knew his trademark smile. It was one of their favorite things about him.

“I’ll never forget that big beautiful smile,” said friend Shamari Mitchell. “We miss your smile,” wrote Mona Villalobos, whom he called “Grammy.” Another friend expected him to go to the NFL, calling him, “the most athletic person I know.”

Tyran “Tydie” Carter, 17, was shot in Wichita, Kansas, on March 25, 2018. He was found dead around 12.45 a.m. in the backyard of a family friend.
