It had been a week of celebrations – he’d graduated from high school just days before, and his older brother’s rap career was taking off under the moniker “Yungeen Ace.”

That evening, after attending a friend’s birthday party, the brothers and two others drove back from the event, still in high spirits. They were on Town Center Parkway in Jacksonville, Florida, when another car passed by. An occupant opened fire.

Although his brother tried to shield him, taking the impact of eight bulletsTre'Von Rayshaun Bullard, 18, was shot and killed. By midnight, Bullard’s brother was the only person in the vehicle still alive.
