He was a star wide receiver and defensive back for Carlmont High School in Belmont, California, with multiple highlight tapes showing him leading his football team, including a winning championship game.
After being academically ineligible to play as a junior, he turned things around. His coach was pleased with his hard work and college plans.
On Jan. 7, 2019, his parents called police to check on their son. They found Mohammad Othman, 17, shot dead in an elementary school parking lot. An overflow crowd knelt on the football field at his prayer service, too many people to fit inside.
