Age 18

Saint Louis, Missouri

Playing basketball was all he wanted

“Jashawn,” or “Mwezzy,” as he was known, was a basketball player. His brother, Al Wysinger, remembered the warm, “contagious” smile he wore when he accepted his diploma from Gateway STEM High School.

“We still had a conversation to finish. Can we finish it lil bro?” Al said in a Facebook post. “I promise to not let it end.”

Malik Wysinger, 18, of Saint Louis, Missouri, attended Saint Louis University. He was shot on Interstate 70 while driving with two friends and later died at a hospital the evening of Jan. 9, 2019.
