Loghan Matthew Welliver

Age 10

Harrisburg, Oregon

A horseback rider, a close-knit neighborhood

A lover of sports and the color blue, you could often find him horseback riding at his family’s barn. Maybe it was in his genes — his mother and older sister rode, too.

Their home boasted a sprawling view of Harrisburg, Oregon, a close-knit neighborhood where many families live on farms, and the local school district has about 850 students. “The community should all look out for one another,” a resident would later say.

At 3:33 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2018, Loghan Matthew Welliver accidentally shot himself in his home. He was 11 years old.
