Age 16

Brooklyn, New York

Brooklyn baller, slept with a basketball

He was a younger brother. His summer job was doing maintenance at a public school, before practicing basketball with Brooklyn Ballers, a nonprofit that helps kids attend college.

His coach said, “He practices every day. If he’s not playing or practicing with me, he’s outside playing in the street.” He slept with a basketball, and come senior year, was going to be his high school’s basketball team captain.

Latrell David Brown, 16, known as “Taz” because he was fast like a Tasmanian devil when playing basketball, never made it to practice on July 11, 2018. He was shot in the head in Brooklyn, New York, while on his way there and died.
