Justice Devaun Johnson

Age 18

Overland, Missouri

Talented quarterback with a winning smile

A quarterback, he switched schools as a junior, moving to Kirkwood High School in St. Louis County, Missouri, from Festus High School, 32 miles south.

His uncle called him “the closest thing” to a philosopher, who “could turn a bad situation into beauty.” He planned to take him to sign up with the Navy.

Instead, on Jan. 14, 2019, Justice DeVaun Johnson met up with others at a McDonald’s parking lot in Overland, Missouri. There, he was fatally shot. In a phone interview, Overland Police Chief Andy Mackey confirmed that two ex-teammates were arrested in connection with his murder.
