Johnny Harp

Age 17

Boynton Beach, Florida

Sky of teal balloons for him

He’d sit in his garage with his cousin and chat about girls for hours at a time. He was also close with his aunts, who he’d always end phone calls with by saying “I love you.”

A running back for Boynton Beach High School’s football team, he was known for his warmth. “He had a light in him that made others feel welcome,” his godfather said.

A crowd released teal balloons into the sky at his vigil after Johnny Harp, 17, was shot to death in a car in Boynton Beach, Florida, on July 18, 2018. He left behind a cousin without a confidant.
