Jeremiah Wilson Jr.

Age 8

Kankakee, Illinois

Forever known as the new kid

The third-grader was a football player for the Kankakee Colts Football and Cheerleading League.

Described by those he knew as “the sweetest little boy,” he lived in Kankakee, Illinois, near Chicago, with his two siblings and his parents. For his first years of school he went to Mark Twain Primary School. He switched to Thomas Edison Primary School for third grade.

On Aug. 26, 2018, after one week in his new school, Jeremiah Wilson Jr., 8, died from an accidental gunshot to the head in his home. His football team threw a “Crunch for a Cause” fundraiser to support his grieving family.
