Never made it to basketball camp

Every morning, the thud of his basketball on the pavement would let his family know he was awake. Each night, he slept with a basketball in his bed. He was looking forward to attending basketball camp this summer.

“My brother didn’t do nothing to nobody,” his sister Deonce told NBC.  “All he wanted to do was play ball.”

Jechon Anderson, 11, attended Harold Washington Elementary School in Chicago. He was found dead in his apartment with a gunshot wound to the head on June 4, 2018.
