The promise of an unlimited future

A running back for Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond, Virginia, he loved sports. He hoped to attend Virginia Union University, which promotes “The Promise of an Unlimited Future.”

He would never attend. “If there is anyone under the sound of my voice that has a beef with anybody,” his godfather said during a prayer at his vigil, “Father I pray that ... you allow them to fix it.”

James Boyd Moorehead, Jr., 18, was shot and killed on Jan. 2, 2019, in Richmond. A 19-year-old man was charged with voluntary manslaughter. It was the second homicide in Richmond in the first two days of 2019.
