He was a junior at Phoebus High School and played on the football team. He was described as “a big old teddy bear” by his classmate Tierra Mobley. “He was cool.”
As he was fighting to live, his friends ran to get his mom. They told him how much he was loved. His teammates commemorated his life with a football marked No. 58.
Jamari Tyrese Sanders, 17, was killed in a drive-by shooting at a playground in Hampton, Virginia, on May 2, 2018.
