Jada Darayona Jones

Age 14

Rock Hill, South Carolina

Her dreams of performing, not realized

She was a devoted Instagrammer. Where some teenagers use their accounts to post pictures of their lunches, she uploaded videos of herself dancing, since she daydreamed about one day becoming a performer.

She was popular, able to easily win over even casual acquaintances with a personality described as “outgoing” and “sweet-souled.”

On the night of June 10, 2018, as 14-year-old Jada Darayona Jones was sitting in a friend’s driveway in her hometown of Rock Hill, South Carolina, her dreams came to an abrupt halt when she lost her life in a gang-related shooting. Two men stopped their car and opened fire on the driveway, killing her.
