A beloved son, friend, and neighbor

One of his favorite memories from childhood was of fishing on a gentle stream. When he got older, he felt most alive when dribbling down a court and cracking a ball against a bat.

The Temple High School student was a member of Bethel Church, he connected to the community as a beloved son, friend and neighbor.

Isaac Joel Kohlhaas, 18, of Temple, Texas, was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Walmart on Dec. 5, 2018. Police did not have an immediate suspect. Kohlhaas was the 12th homicide in Temple in 2018.
