Grover Willis

Age 18

Brandon, Florida

“Fly high number 5,” teammates cried

Head in the game and heart in the song, he shined in his football highlight reels. He sang and danced after every win, and was weeks away from graduation.

He dreamed about playing college football and aspired to study music. His brother said, “He was a leader. I always wanted to be like him.” His loved ones were shocked when he didn’t return home.

Durant High School cornerback Grover Willis, 18, was shot at a Mobil gas station in Brandon, Florida, on April 15, 2018. He died later that night.
