Emma Jones

Age 12

Ballston Spa, New York

School in mourning over straight-A student

Her talent in academics, specifically math, put her on the 2018-19 first quarter Principal's List for seventh-graders at Ballston Spa Middle School. She’d had the same success the previous year.

She dreamed of attending Stanford University. A standout tennis player, a member of the middle school band, and a part of the community swim team, she could only be described as exceptional. This raw potential was vanquished on a Saturday morning.

On December 14, 2018, officers found Emma Jones, 12, and her parents dead in their home in Ballston Spa, New York. Emma’s father killed his wife and daughter, then turned the gun on himself.
