Deshaun Singleton

Age 17

Violet, Louisiana

His daughter won’t see him play

He was known as “Weedy” to his family. He had a love for basketball and football. The Chalmette High School student was funny, energetic, and “cool to be around.” His daughter, Khloe Grant, was 1.

“He was my baby. Just like one of my own biological children,” Larry Taylor, a relative, said at a memorial for him.

Deshaun Singleton, 17, was found lying in the front seat of a car with a gunshot injury to the head in Violet, Louisiana, on Oct. 15, 2018. Two days later, family and friends gathered in his honor to release blue and white balloons into the night sky.
