Indianapolis, Indiana

All that’s left are his videos

Graduation was approaching next year, and so was football season. He had plans to finish senior year on the football team.

He could make you smile inside and out. His favorite way to entertain was through videos made with friends, family members said. With bright neon filters, one video shows him swinging his arms and bouncing to background music. His family had moved from Illinois to escape violence.

DayMarko Layvon Tolefree, 17, better known as “Day Day,” was shot after a car chase in Indianapolis, Indiana, on May 8, 2018. It was the sixth shooting in the city in less than 24 hours.
