Clarissa Sophia Riojas

Age 18

San Antonio, Texas

She told him it was over

She was a national dance champion headed for college and was set to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with her high school’s dance team later that year.

She and her boyfriend both went to Highlands High School. They’d been dating for more than a year. According to friends and classmates, their relationship was toxic and abusive. One week earlier, she’d left him for good.

On April 25, 2018, Clarissa Sophia Riojas, 18, was fatally shot by her ex-boyfriend in her apartment in San Antonio, Texas, before he shot himself in a nearby wooded area.
