A buzz cut, a soft smile
“CJ” had a buzz cut, a soft smile and a barely-there mustache. He was number 22 on the football field, a defensive back for the Tenacious Tigers at Minor High School in Adamsville, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. A teacher described him as “friendly, lovable, charming.”
But authorities said he had “a feud” with another person and fired the first round when they met at the Marathon Pit Stop convenience store on New Year’s Eve.
The other man shot back. Censere Ja'Quuan Calhoun died on Dec. 31, 2018. His homicide was the last one reported for Jefferson County that year.
