Age 17

Sylacauga, Alabama

A summer of softball, the lake

Two of her favorite places were the softball field and the lake. For years, stepping onto the field with the Birmingham Mustangs was a way of life. She could still feel her cleats as she headed towards the lake.

She just graduated from Valleydale Christian Academy and was looking forward to beginning her college career at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in the fall.

Casey Nicole Kizer, 17, was shot on July 25, 2018, behind a Home Depot in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was pronounced dead at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
