Carlos Davis II

Age 15

Atlanta, Georgia

A vacancy on the football field

At 6:07 p.m., his worried mother FaceTimed him. He was at a friend’s house. She asked him to come home, and he promised he was on his way. But he never made it back.

His principal called him “a leader, an encourager.”  He was a football player at Benjamin E. Mays High School who religiously practiced with his team. When he wasn’t on the field, he was with his family. "Me and my baby did everything together,” his mother said.

On March 4, 2018, in Atlanta, Carlos Davis II, 15, was fatally shot when another teen accidentally fired a gun, hitting him in the chest.
