Carl Patrick Henry LeRoy Jr.

Age 17

Seven Springs, North Carolina

Small town boy, his father’s namesake

He lived in a small town with fewer than 100 residents. Neighbors knew him by the sound of his bouncing basketball dribbling on the sidewalk. He loved reptiles, had three siblings and shared a middle name with his father.

His white-paneled rural home was surrounded by yards and trees. Only a dirt driveway separated the house from the open road. He was inside one day when someone shot a gun outside.

Carl Patrick Henry LeRoy Jr., 17, was shot and killed in his Seven Springs, North Carolina, home on Aug. 11, 2018.
