Brooklynn Youngblood

Age 5

McLean, Virginia

"Super cute" kid liked to skate

She was a “super cute kid,” her figure skating coach said. Her mother, Veronica, seemed “typical,” but a 2016 protective order warned of a darker side.

Her parents “had (their) rocky moments” but were living together when they decided to move the family to Missouri. But in April, her mother changed her mind.

Brooklynn Youngblood, 5, was shot along with Sharon Castro, her 15-year-old sister, by her mother on Aug. 5, 2018, in McLean, Virginia. Brooklyn died that day. Sharon, also a figure skater whose coach began a GoFundMe page to pay for her medical expenses, died four days later.
