Antwone-Tremell Carpenter

Age 18

Richmond, Indiana

A funeral before his graduation day

He was the kid who bought his favorite teacher Nike shoes as a gift; the homecoming king who was always there for people when they needed it.

He was fashionable, often introducing himself by announcing “the Melly-Mel is in the da house!” to family members when showing off his outfit of the day.

On May 29, 2018, Antwone-Tremell “Mel Mel” Carpenter was shot in the back with a handgun allegedly by a fellow classmate in Richmond, Indiana. In the ambulance, he said he would meet his deceased grandmother in heaven, according to his aunt. His funeral was held the day before he was supposed to graduate high school.
