Amer Miller

Age 17

Hyattsville, Maryland

He wanted to end gun violence

How do we end gun violence?” he wrote in an essay. “We should do it shoulder by shoulder, arm in arm. We should do it...with peace to show our community and our nation that we are not going to take it anymore.”

Since he graduated from Fairmont Heights High School in Capitol Heights, Maryland, he planned on going to Mount St. Mary’s University on a track scholarship where he wanted to study law and run track in the Olympics.

These dreams weren’t fulfilled. On July 14, 2018, Amer Miller, 17, was shot after a man tried to rob him of his iPhone.
