Alex Ryan Marcotte

Age 18

Banning, California

Talented baseball player, always “my baby”

He started early: A member of the Morongo Tribe of Mission Indians, he played Little League and “rez ball” for his tribe, then varsity baseball for Phinneas Banning High School in Wilmington, California. His batting average was .323.

His mother called him “manly” but also "always, always my baby." Afterward, a story would say “(t)here wasn’t a room he couldn’t light up with his presence.”

Alex Ryan Marcotte, 18, and his 19-year-old cousin were shot on Dec. 28, 2018, in Banning, California, after an argument at a liquor store. Marcotte died; his cousin was left  paralyzed from the waist down.
