Zachary Anthony Segura

Age 17

Converse, Texas

One heart stopped. Another one begins.

He chose to be an organ donor at the age of 16. He knew he wanted to be a Marine. His family members knew him as a prankster, and someone who was always willing to offer a helping hand.

“He brought joy to everybody he was around,” his uncle Alex Flores said. “People came and told us stories of how he helped them. The things he did were just astounding. He was just an amazing kid all around.”

Zachary Anthony Segura, 17, died from a gunshot wound to the head on Feb. 25, 2018 in Converse,Texas, outside San Antonio. His heart was donated to another 16-year-old.
