Vontashia Bell

Age 18

Shreveport, Louisiana

She lived her truth with pride

She always strived to live life to its fullest, an openly transgender woman who dressed up in makeup, wore fashionable dresses, and posted pictures of herself on Facebook, wearing a big smile.

She went by the nickname, “Vontae,” to her closest friends and family, who knew her to be sweet, intelligent, compassionate and loving. She was a senior at Woodlawn High Leadership Academy.

On Aug. 30, 2018, gunshots rang through the street of Harrison Ave. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Vontashia Bell, 18, was found shot in the chest and wrist.
