Nicholas Christian Bernard

Age 18

Bedford, Virginia

He saw life as an adventure

With kind eyes and a goofy personality, he had an ability to make people laugh that left an impact on everyone he met. At Liberty High School, where he was a senior, he was also someone you could always go to for help.

He was a daredevil who loved to hike and be outdoors. Friends describe him as the glue that held everything together. They say he was an original – someone they could never replace.

On Jan. 8, 2019, in his home in Bedford, Virginia, 18-year-old Nicholas Christian Bernard accidentally shot himself in the head. He died later that morning at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
