Family jokester dies surrounded by family

A Fort Worth native, he was a fun-loving high schooler who loved to make others laugh. Fondly known as “Nay Nay,” he enjoyed music, football, cookouts and spending time with his family.

His aunt and cousins were looking to grab a bite to eat when they spotted him wounded in the street. They rushed over. As his aunt held his hand, he tried to pick himself off the ground. She told him to stay still, reassuring him that his mom was on her way.

Just before 1 a.m. on June 2, 2018, Nathan Andrew Rubio, 16, died in the hospital after he was shot in the back.
