Malachi Montrez Fryer

Age 6

Elizabethtown, Kentucky

His bike still had training wheels

It was hard for anyone to be mad at him. A “little comedian,” he had a way of making anyone at school laugh, including his teachers. “He never met a stranger,” his elementary school principal said.

He would sit on the bus with his friends and talk basketball. His purple and neon yellow bike still had training wheels on it. He left his bike out in the driveway that day to play video games. He figured he’d be back for it tomorrow.

On June 5, 2018, at his Kentucky home, Malachi Montrez Fryer, 6, accidentally shot himself with a gun his mother’s friend left out on the table.
